With construction equipment and site preparation activity serving as a backdrop, Village of Lincolnwood dignitaries and other invited guests were given a personal preview recently of the new rental senior living community, The Carrington at Lincolnwood, now under construction. The groundbreaking ceremony for the independent living, assisted living and memory care community, anticipated to open in late 2017, took place on the 13-acre site at Northeast Parkway and McCormick Boulevard.
Representatives from The Carrington’s development and management teams respectively, South Bay Partners, Inc. of Dallas, Texas, and Life Care Services, An LCS Company of Des Moines, Iowa were on hand to showcase renderings of the four-story residence of approximately 380 apartments and amenity areas; share progress to date; and to acknowledge the Village for its cooperation and perseverance in helping to bring a much-welcomed community of this type to Lincolnwood.
“We believe The Carrington is a community whose time has come,” said Adam Arnold, development manager, South Bay Partners, Inc. “Older adults who have lifelong ties to Lincolnwood deserve a high-quality, modern community of residential and health care choices letting them stay close to home. The Village has been waiting for something like The Carrington and we are very pleased to have worked together with Lincolnwood to see this day arrive, especially at this outstanding location offering such a rare amount of park-like, pedestrian-friendly green space.”
Among the local officials representing the Village of Lincolnwood were Village President, Gerald Turry; Senior Board of Trustees, Jesal B. Patel; Village Manager, Tim Wiberg; Development Manager, Aaron Cook; Community Development Director, Steve McNellis; Director of Public Works, Ashley Engelmann; and Fire Chief, Mike Hansen “We will be very proud to be connected with The Carrington,” said President Turry. “We are confident it will be the best community in Lincolnwood; to look at what is coming is a wondrous thing.”
Trustee Patel added, “As a sitting Village Trustee and a resident for over 36 years, I am thrilled to see the start of the largest project in Lincolnwood’s history. At the same time, I’m glad to see the redevelopment of the former Bell & Howell site, one of our Village’s largest parcels of property, which has been unused for over 15 years. The Carrington will fill an underserved market of Village residents, as well as those from surrounding communities and will be a welcomed addition to Lincolnwood.”
Senior Vice President/Director of Senior Living Management for the Rental Division, LCS®, Peter Muhlbach, emphasized the importance of having a full range of lifestyle choices on one campus at The Carrington. “With 251 independent and 88 assisted living apartments, along with 44 memory care accommodations together, a flexible ‘bridge’ of extra service and support is available to residents, if and when their needs should change.” LCS Rental Division Vice President/Senior Director of Marketing and Sales, Kristin Cherry joined Muhlbach at the groundbreaking.
A distinct feature of The Carrington will be its modern, urban design led by Jensen & Halstead LTD, The Carrington’s architect, and the oldest architecture firm in Chicago, and Charles Hall Construction of Westmont, Ill. Jensen & Halstead was represented by David Dastur, with Chuck Hall and Peter Robinson in attendance for Charles Hall Construction.
Incomparable livability and a focus on hospitality-based, concierge-style services will be hallmarks of The Carrington way of life. Amenities will include a great room with library and media center; auditorium; chapel; secure, climate- and access-controlled parking garage within the building; and an on-site City-operated EMT Station. Multiple dining choices; scheduled housekeeping and transportation; a calendar of events and entertainment; interior and exterior maintenance; and the specialized services of assisted living and memory care create a full-service lifestyle of independence and security.
