The Carrington at Lincolnwood

Leadership Team

Joy Nance

Executive Director

Joy Nance has over 20 years of experience within the senior living services industry, hiring and motivating staff to deliver premium service and drive high resident satisfaction. In her extensive career, she has managed multiple communities in a regional role as well as Executive Director, with all levels of care. Joy has a heart and vision that is service-oriented, has extensive experience in operations, sales and clinical management, and a leadership style that is collaborative, clear and motivational. She has consistently secured resident satisfaction ratings of 95+% by understanding resident needs, developing programs to meet those needs, and implementing solutions through highly trained and motivated teams.
Joy has lived in the Chicago area for most of her adult life and has been married to the same man for too many years to count. She has two sons, one of whom is married, and she is enjoying her daughter-in-law as well, finally another girl! One of the greatest pleasures she has is spending time with her three young granddaughters. When she isn’t working, she is passionate about singing and tennis. She does not sing however, when she plays tennis.

Stacey Wilkinson

Director of Sales and Marketing

As Director of Sales and Marketing, Stacey Wilkinson is responsible for “building the Carrington brand.” She spends much of her time developing relationships with prospective residents and their families, professionals in the community, as well as planning and executing events, community tours, and more.
The fact that the community is now complete changes Stacey’s approach somewhat; rather than a conceptual discussion of floor plans and artist’s renderings, people can now see for themselves how different The Carrington is from other senior communities. Especially when people see the high-end materials used in construction, the urban flair, and the affordable luxury designed into every facet. There is a major surge in interest now that the community is open.
Stacey brings more than 10 years of experience in senior living to her position, and truly enjoys her role working with senior adults. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities such as running, hiking, and spending time with her family. She has lived in the Chicago area for more than 20 years.

Debbie Self

Director of Health Services

Debbie Self, The Carrington’s Director of Health Services, has spent her entire career in senior care. A Bachelor’s prepared Registered Nurse, Debbie is certified in Dementia Care and has extensive experience in Assisted Living and Memory Care. She is very pleased to have the opportunity to implement a start-up program in a state-of-the-art community with the full support of The Carrington’s management company. Debbie loves what she does and considers it her life’s work – expecting 110% and more from herself and members of her team.
A long-time Chicago resident, Debbie is a big Cubs fan, and enjoys travel and spending time with her husband and two grown daughters.

Loree Kilian

Director of Life Enrichment

Loree Kilian has the perfect job – as The Carrington’s Director of Life Enrichment she plans and coordinates resident programs and activities – such as events, outings, luncheons, men’s clubs, theatre visits, museum outings, garden tours and much more – the sky’s the limit. Loree is also an entertainer, and personally leads engaging music programs. You can see why she thinks of her job as “play.”
After a number of years as a television producer, Loree took time off to be a stay-at-home mom. When her children were older, she looked for a new challenge, and took a job literally playing games with senior adults – helping them stay mentally fit and challenged. What could be a more natural step than working as an activities director? Loree joins The Carrington with eight years of experience in senior living communities. She is from the Chicago area, and resides in Lincolnwood – living about five minutes from The Carrington.

Cathy Rojas

Move-in Coordinator

Once you’ve decided to make The Carrington your new home, Cathy Rojas goes to work to help organize the details of getting your new residence ready. She’ll make sure your utilities are turned on, confirm moving day schedules, make sure meals are available, and confirm that all the residential details are handled. During the move, she will be on hand to assure a smooth transition, and that you are comfortable and have everything you need.
Several years ago, Cathy was working in retail and happened to visit a friend in a new senior living community. Walking in, she had an overwhelming sense of compassion and care. This visit prompted her to change her career path. She spent the next 10 years as a front desk concierge for senior living communities as her affinity for working with seniors was so rewarding. A lifelong Chicago-area resident, Cathy lives an active lifestyle. She is married with one son and enjoys cooking and entertaining.

Carolyn Driscoll

Residency Counselor

Carolyn Driscoll’s love of working with senior adults dates back to her special relationship with her own grandmother. After working in teaching, banking, and a time at home with her own children, Carolyn realized that working with senior adults was her calling. Her job as a Residency Counselor at The Carrington gives her an opportunity to build relationships with future residents and their families. She spends a lot of time listening and understanding people’s needs, desires and preferences, and then helps them discover how life at The Carrington will meet those needs.
Carolyn has been most impressed by the fact that so many of the community’s incoming residents are from the immediate area, and the large percentage of adult children who are involved in their parents’ decision to move to The Carrington. She was born in Chicago, and is a lifelong area resident.

Suzy Povrzenic

Community Outreach Coordinator

Suzy Povrzenic’s entire career seems to have been spent in preparation to become The Carrington’s Community Outreach Coordinator. She became a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) at the age of 17. As an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse), she has worked in skilled nursing and home health environments. She has been an Advocate Care Nurse (a position she created to advocate for patients), a nurse liaison, and worked in skilled healthcare outreach marketing. She was involved – on site – when The Carrington first opened in April, which is when she fell in love with the people and the building itself. In July, when the opportunity arose to join the Carrington team, Suzy jumped at the chance.
Suzy spends about half her time working outside The Carrington, building relationships and speaking with professionals who serve the senior community, as well as community groups such as churches, women’s groups and chambers of commerce. She spends the balance of her time at The Carrington, developing relationships internally. “We’re creating something really special here,” says Suzy. “I love having the opportunity to introduce people to the next generation of senior living at The Carrington. It’s completely different than other communities and sets a high bar to which competitors aspire.”
Suzy was born and raised in the Chicago area, the first member of her family born in the U.S. She spent three years attending school in Croatia (where she still has family) and is fluent in four languages. When she’s not working, Suzy enjoys travel, bar-be-que, discovering new restaurants, spending time with her son, three sisters, extended family and friends.

Greg Lechtenberg

Residency Counselor

One of the things Greg Lechtenberg finds most rewarding about his position as a Residency Counselor is meeting prospective residents and their families – building relationships and helping them clarify their goals and motivations to see if The Carrington is a good fit for the next phase of their lives. He especially enjoys that “aha!” moment that often comes on a tour of the now-finished community – when people recognize that The Carrington has exceeded their expectations. There is a freshness, and a modern, urban edge to the community. Greg thinks of this as “beautiful, comfortable, affordable luxury.”
Greg joins The Carrington with 15 years’ experience working in various aspects of senior living, starting out in New York City, and moving to Chicago several years ago. He is an avid musician and bicyclist, commuting the six miles from his home to The Carrington. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, camping, and time with friends.

Astrea Luna

Residency Counselor

As a Residency Counselor for The Carrington, specializing in Assisted Living and Memory Care, Astrea Luna has the opportunity to meet with senior adults and their families to introduce them to the community, and help determine if The Carrington is right for them. In such meetings, Astrea feels an immediate connection. Raised by her grandmother, the time came for her to become a caregiver. “I’ve been there and can assure you that you are not alone. I will help connect you with resources and solutions to care for your loved one.” Astrea meets prospective residents learning their incredible life stories. “It is a privilege to be a part of their journey” says Astrea. “They have so much humor and wisdom to share. For both seniors and their children, this is an exciting new chapter in their lives.”
Astrea is a recent addition to The Carrington team. With several years of experience working with senior adults, she was contacted a few months ago by her cousin who is the captain at the local fire department. He spoke of an amazing new community being completed in Lincolnwood, and suggested she explore the possibility. Astrea was immediately taken by the beauty and characteristics of the community, but most impressed by caliber of the team and the welcoming residents that call The Carrington home. A lifelong area resident, she and her husband enjoy the Chicago culture and dining, and the pursuit of physical fitness.
