Community Management

The Carrington at Lincolnwood is managed by Life Care Services, An LCS Company, established in 1971 and based in Des Moines, Iowa. The nation’s leading manager of full-service senior living communities, Life Care Services provides operations, and marketing and sales management services for not-for-profit and for-profit Life Plan Communities, formerly known as Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC), and rental independent living, assisted living and memory care communities nationwide.

Stephen Kennery

Executive Director

As The Carrington’s Executive Director, every facet of the community comes under Stephen Kennery’s leadership. He oversees operations, sales, resident and community relations, the physical plant and much more. A key challenge in the early stages of the community is to help with recruiting and training a top-notch team, covering every department and position. His personal goal for the community: to meet resident expectations from day one.
Stephen started his career in food and beverage management for restaurants and hotels, all the way from a single restaurant to supervising 27 hotels in 12 states. Then an opportunity arose to carve out a new direction in senior living, first making operational changes to a group of five communities, then expanding that group to eight new, additional communities. He looks forward to great things at The Carrington – a spacious, state-of-the-art community in an outstanding location.
A lifelong sailboat racer, Stephen can often be found with his team in a 40-foot sailboat on Lake Michigan; they recently completed a race from Chicago to Mackinac Island, Michigan, covering 333 miles in 30 hours.

Stacey Wilkinson

Director of Sales and Marketing

As Director of Sales and Marketing, Stacey Wilkinson is responsible for “building the Carrington brand.” She spends much of her time developing relationships with prospective residents and their families, professionals in the community, as well as planning and executing events, community tours, and more.
The fact that the community is now complete changes Stacey’s approach somewhat; rather than a conceptual discussion of floor plans and artist’s renderings, people can now see for themselves how different The Carrington is from other senior communities. Especially when people see the high-end materials used in construction, the urban flair, and the affordable luxury designed into every facet. There is a major surge in interest now that the community is open.
Stacey brings more than 10 years of experience in senior living to her position, and truly enjoys her role working with senior adults. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities such as running, hiking, and spending time with her family. She has lived in the Chicago area for more than 20 years.

Carolyn Driscoll

Residency Counselor

Carolyn Driscoll’s love of working with senior adults dates back to her special relationship with her own grandmother. After working in teaching, banking, and a time at home with her own children, Carolyn realized that working with senior adults was her calling. Her job as a Residency Counselor at The Carrington gives her an opportunity to build relationships with future residents and their families. She spends a lot of time listening and understanding people’s needs, desires and preferences, and then helps them discover how life at The Carrington will meet those needs.
Carolyn has been most impressed by the fact that so many of the community’s incoming residents are from the immediate area, and the large percentage of adult children who are involved in their parents’ decision to move to The Carrington. She was born in Chicago, and is a lifelong area resident.

Greg Lechtenberg

Residency Couneslor

One of the things Greg Lechtenberg finds most rewarding about his position as a Residency Counselor is meeting prospective residents and their families – building relationships and helping them clarify their goals and motivations to see if The Carrington is a good fit for the next phase of their lives. He especially enjoys that “aha!” moment that often comes on a tour of the now-finished community – when people recognize that The Carrington has exceeded their expectations. There is a freshness, and a modern, urban edge to the community. Greg thinks of this as “beautiful, comfortable, affordable luxury.”
Greg joins The Carrington with 15 years’ experience working in various aspects of senior living, starting out in New York City, and moving to Chicago several years ago. He is an avid musician and bicyclist, commuting the six miles from his home to The Carrington. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, camping, and time with friends.

Cathy Rojas

Move-in Coordinator

Cathy Rojas, The Carrington’s Move-In Coordinator, anticipates being very busy for the foreseeable future, as the community fills to capacity. Her position includes a wide variety of functions, such as answering questions about an upcoming move, helping new residents find downsizing experts, real estate agents, teams to pack up the resident’s home, movers and more. When moving day arrives, Cathy conducts a “round table,” to introduce the resident to the staff and make them feel comfortable in their new surroundings.
Several years ago, Cathy was working in retail and happened to visit a friend in a new senior living community. Walking in, she had an overwhelming sense of compassion and care. This visit prompted her to change her career path. She spent the next 10 years as a front desk concierge for senior living communities as her affinity for working with seniors was so rewarding. A lifelong Chicago-area resident, Cathy lives an active lifestyle. She is married with one son and enjoys cooking and entertaining.

Gwen Lyon

Business Office Manager

Gwen Lyon, Business Office Manager for The Carrington, wears many hats. She manages accounting and finance for the community, directly oversees the concierge staff, and is actively engaged in helping to hire just the right people for the community. In addition, she will have extensive interaction with the community’s residents.
Gwen’s background has thoroughly prepared her for the task, having worked extensively in senior living settings, including long-term care financing, admissions, and skilled nursing. She also brings considerable experience in hospitality. She’s very excited to be a member of The Carrington’s start-up team. Gwen is a self-described “foody.” She loves cooking, baking and dining. She reads a lot and is looking forward to adopting a dog. She is a lifelong Chicago-area resident, and grew up in Deerfield, Illinois.

Eddie Alonso

Director of Human Resources

Eddie Alonso, The Carrington’s Director of Human Resources, has a very important task: finding the perfect team members to staff this unique and outstanding community. For this, he’s seeking individuals who display sympathy, empathy, and patience, with a love for people and the job: people with “The Carrington touch.” It’s not just “care,” says Eddie, “it’s excellent care.”
While he has worked in human resources for 14 years, Eddie is new to senior living, and is very pleased to have found a position that is so meaningful to him personally. Born and raised in the Chicago area, he enjoys family time and staying active both inside and outside the gym. He loves his rescue dog, Samantha!

Loree Kilian

Director of Life Enrichment

Loree Kilian has the perfect job – as The Carrington’s Director of Life Enrichment she plans and coordinates resident programs and activities – such as events, outings, luncheons, men’s clubs, theatre visits, museum outings, garden tours and much more – the sky’s the limit. Loree is also an entertainer, and personally leads engaging music programs. You can see why she thinks of her job as “play.”
After a number of years as a television producer, Loree took time off to be a stay-at-home mom. When her children were older, she looked for a new challenge, and took a job literally playing games with senior adults – helping them stay mentally fit and challenged. What could be a more natural step than working as an activities director? Loree joins The Carrington with eight years of experience in senior living communities. She is from the Chicago area, and resides in Lincolnwood – living about five minutes from The Carrington.

Debbie Self

Director of Health Services

Debbie Self, The Carrington’s Director of Health Services, has spent her entire career in senior care. A Bachelor’s prepared Registered Nurse, Debbie is certified in Dementia Care and has extensive experience in Assisted Living and Memory Care. She is very pleased to have the opportunity to implement a start-up program in a state-of-the-art community with the full support of The Carrington’s management company. Debbie loves what she does and considers it her life’s work – expecting 110% and more from herself and members of her team.
A long-time Chicago resident, Debbie is a big Cubs fan, and enjoys travel and spending time with her husband and two grown daughters.

Robert Serrano

Director of Plant Operations

Robert Serrano, as the Director of Plant Operations for The Carrington, oversees a wide array of the behind-the-scenes functions so important to the community – for example, housekeeping, laundry, transportation, lawn maintenance, moving furniture and equipment within the building, lighting and facilities management, heating and air conditioning, and IT – Information Technology – all this and more falls under Robert’s purview.
Robert will interact frequently with residents at The Carrington, as he answers questions about these systems and assures resident comfort and satisfaction. He brings extensive experience to his position – with 15 years in healthcare facilities, and 21 years in property management, including senior living. Robert is a lifelong Chicago-area resident.
